One woman has died after her motorcycle crashed into a car in the South Island town of Moana yesterday afternoon.
A serious crash investigation is underway after the motorcycle, that was travelling north along Arnold Valley Road, collided with a car travelling south around 3:20pm.
The woman riding the motorcycle died at the scene, and the driver of the car was not seriously injured.
The motorcycle was part of a group of eight motorcycles, and another woman from the group lost control of her bike and crashed when she hit debris from the first crash.
She was flown to Greymouth Hospital with a broken leg. Both riders were from Christchurch.
The road was closed for several hours after the crashes.
