The body of a 20-year-old woman has been found at an address in Blenheim, after police received information leading to the discovery.
The officer in charge of the investigation Detective Senior Sergeant Ciaran Sloan says the tragic death is likely to have occurred earlier on Monday.
"We have arrested and charged a 48-year-old woman with murder, and we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident," he said.
The woman charged with murder will appear in Blenheim District Court Tuesday.
