5 arrested in Auckland meth ring crackdown

Five people have been arrested as part of an investigation into a methamphetamine ring in northern Auckland and they're not the only ones under investigation.

"Operation Rosella" targeted an organised crime group which police are now certain has been stopped.

Police carried out a number of search warrants in the Rodney area on Thursday and Friday where large amounts of drugs, paraphernalia and cash.

One woman and four men have been arrested and are facing a range of charges, including supply and possession of meth.

Detective Inspector Hayden Mander says police are promising to go one step further with this operation.

"Police have managed to not only block their supply, but also identified hundreds of their clients who we will be following up with to provide prevention advice and local support services."

He says drug abuse is part of a downward cycle.

"Drug dealers constantly exploit those who are addicted and drive them to commit more crime to fund their habit."

All five have been remanded in custody and will appear in North Shore District Court over the next few days.
