Acclaimed New Zealand actor James Rolleston is in a stable condition in the intensive care unit after being critically injured when the car he was in hit a bridge near Opotiki.
The 19-year-old star of Boy was transferred to Waikato Hospital from Tauranga Hospital on Wednesday afternoon. He had earlier been airlifted to Tauranga Hospital after the crash on Otara Bridge at around 11pm Tuesday.
In a statement from the Bay of Plenty District Health Board the family thanked the country for their support.
"The family would like to thank all the well wishers who have sent so many messages of love and support, they are finding this a huge comfort at this time."
