Police are hoping to find more information about a sleeping bag, two blankets and a sheet, which were found wrapped around Alex Fisher's body on Waitarere Beach two weeks ago.

More than 15 police staff are working on the homicide investigation, and the officer in charge says aspects of the case are not straight forward.

"We are taking a meticulous approach to gathering the information needed," says Detective Senior Sergeant Neil Forlong. "We're also keeping an open mind as to what has happened and pursuing a number of lines of inquiry."

Police won't speculate on how the 10-year-old was killed, but have released images of the sleeping items in the hope someone might know where they came from.

"One of the blankets is quite distinctive and we're hoping that the picture might jog someone's memory," says Det Snr Sgt Forlong.

"We're working through the inquiry and through a number of exhibits with ESR to help us build a picture of the events that lead to Alex's death. Obviously with this inquiry some of the aspects are not straight forward."

Alex's 25-year-old brother, Eric Baden McIsaac, is facing three charges in relation to the homicide investigation, including burglary and possession of a knife. The third charge is suppressed.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Levin police or call the Operation Waitarere number, 0800 234 7437.
