The man accused of murdering Levin boy Alex Fisher was back in court today.

25-year-old Eric Baden McIsaac had a brief appearance in the Palmerston North High Court this morning.

He's accused of murdering Alex Fisher, his half-brother, on October 5 or 6 last year.

The 10-year-old's body was found on Waitarere Beach on October 8, three days after he was last seen in CCTV footage with McIsaac.

McIsaac also faces charges of burglary, possession of a knife and one other charge that's suppressed.

In court today, Justice Simon France and McIsaac's lawyer Letizea Ord discussed the next step in the case.

Justice France said it can be reported that McIsaac has been further remanded "to allow completion of the fitness to stand trial processes".

He's due to appear in court again on April 29.
