Police have arrested and charged two people with possession of approximately $120,000 of methamphetamine for supply.

A 44-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman will appear in Auckland District Court today.

They were arrested following a search yesterday of an inner-city apartment in which approximately 283g of methamphetamine was found with an approximate street value of $120,000.

One kilogram of a powder material was also found which is possibly methamphetamine, but is waiting further testing.

More charges could be laid against the pair as police continue to assess and gather evidence.

Detective Inspector Chris Cahill says that as part of the investigation, occupants of a vehicle were stopped by armed police on Nelson St in Auckland this morning.

"This vehicle is currently being searched and the occupants are assisting police with their inquiries."

"At this stage no persons have been charged with any offences," he says.

This is the second time this week where apartments and motels have been identified as being used for methamphetamine supply and possible manufacture.
