A major overhaul of the Fire Service has been announced by Internal Affairs Minister Peter Dunne.
It includes bringing the rural and urban fire services under one umbrella, and under a new name -- Fire and Emergency New Zealand.
There'll also be changes to the way the service is funded, including a fire levy on insurance holders and more Government money.
Mr Dunne has promised there will be no job losses as a result.

Mr Dunne says the new name reflects the work the service does in the wider community aside from firefighting, such as dealing with road accidents and natural disasters.
