A train station in Auckland has reopened after it was closed when a person fell to their death from a neighbouring building onto the train tracks below.

Police say the body, which was found on the railway line at Newmarket, has been removed and train services are now running as normal.

Police are examining the scene.

All train lines in and out of the station had been closed as a result of the incident.

Western lines remained open and Auckland Transport said a train shuttle was operating between Onehunga and Penrose.

The transport company had also advised anyone traveling to any stations on the Southern Line between Otahuhu and Newmarket to use buses from Great South Rd.
