A baby is in critical condition after a car crashed into a bank near Kopaki in Waitomo this morning.
The incident happened around 8:30am when a car with four occupants, including the baby, crashed into on State Highway 4.
A passing motorist took the baby to hospital and the three other occupants received minor injuries.
Southbound traffic along the highway is closed, but northbound traffic is reported to be flowing freely.
The serious crash unit is currently investigating the scene.
