A bagel company has been fined and ordered to pay reparations to a worker after his fingers were crushed in a machine.
Abe's Real Bagels was fined $34,000 and ordered to pay $4000 to the worker after his hand became trapped in rollers while trying to remove dough from a bagel chips machine while it was still running.
The worker's middle and ring fingers on his right hand were crushed in the incident at the factory in the Auckland suburb of Glen Innes in February this year.
The penalty was imposed in the Auckland District Court on Thursday.
