A man found dead in a burnt out car on Wednesday near Taupo has been identified.
Marcelo Jose Luis Pazzelli, 41, from Taupo was found in the burnt four-wheel drive in forest halfway between Taupo and Tokoroa on Wednesday morning.
The fire service was called to the scene after reports of smoke near State Highway 1 in the Ohakuri area just before 10am.
Police examined the scene and removed the body on Wednesday night.
Police say the death is not suspicious and has been referred to the coroner.
