A car has gone over a bank and caught fire near Taihape tonight, killing two people.
Police and other emergency services arrived at the scene of the single-vehicle crash on State Highway 1 at around 10:35pm.
Two people died on the scene.
One lane was closed after the accident but had reopened by Tuesday morning.
