A man is dead following a collision between a car and a truck on State Highway 27, near Te Puninga, northeast of Hamilton.
Two other people have been seriously injured, and are currently receiving medical treatment. All three victims were occupants of the car.
The road is closed, with diversions in place along SH27 at Whakahoro Rd and Manhire Rd.
The crash site has been cordoned off, and police say the closures will be in place for several hours.
The serious crash unit is investigating.
