A Christchurch man has been crushed by a 13 tonne digger.
Emergency services were called to Mount Pleasant on Wednesday afternoon where a man in his 40s had become trapped by the heavy machinery.
The incident occured during excavation work on a private property.
An ambulance spokesperson says the man has been taken to Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries.
