A group of Christchurch high school students have completed a massive 400km long-distance run as part of fundraising event that crosses the finish line on Monday after five days on the road.

The St Bede's Run for a Life event stretches from Lawrence to Christchurch and involves 60 students and 40 staff, who were challenged by the school to raise money for teen cancer charity CanTeen.

It's taking its toll on students with St Bede's pupil Vinnie Lucas saying he's had a tough time on the run.

"[I'm] feeling alright, wasn't feeling too good on the first couple days," he says.

"[I've got] sore muscles, real sore legs and blisters on my feet."

With the run coming to an end, they have raised more than $60,000 between the 100 people involved. The school has raised around $450,000 through the event over the last five years.

The biggest amount raised by a single student this year was nearly $4000 by Sam Sparrow.
