Missing 10-year-old Nathan Callaghan has been found safe and well in Waikanae, police say.
Nathan, who is autistic, went missing from his address around 4:45pm.
Nathan has a mental age of around two to three years old and police had warned he liked to play near water -- especially at the beach.
Search and Rescue were deployed in the search for the missing boy, as well as dog handlers and police recruits from Porirua.
Police say they would like to thank the Waikanae community and the wider public for the support and kind thoughts during the search.
