Design students dazzle at Christchurch architecture festival

  • 22/10/2016

The Festival of Transitional Architecture is on in Christchurch until Monday.

As part of the event, design students have created stunning installations around the Christchurch Art Gallery.

The students come from seven design and architecture schools from across Australasia.

They've helped install 18 imaginative temporary structures made from "waste" materials in vacant sites in and around the gallery.

"This large-scale transformation of inner city spaces through the transformation of waste materials is a creative exploration of the sustainable ways we could regenerate our city," the festival said in a statement.

It's part of the lead up to the festival's headline event on Saturday, and thousands of Cantabrians and visitors are expected to attend.
