The police dive squad has been brought in to join the search for missing woman Rachel Stokes, whose car was found crashed near Murchison last week.
Police are trying to unravel the mystery of what happened to the 46-year-old.
Her car was found crashed on State Highway 6 near Kawatiru Junction, close to Murchison on Friday morning. However, Ms Stokes was nowhere to be found.
Investigators had moved their search to an area around 40km from the crash site where police said they'd found "items of interest".
They also want to talk to a woman who was seen hitchhiking in the Richmond area on Sunday.
A member of the public reported seeing the woman, who was carrying a black shoulder bag with a long strap over her shoulder. She was hitchhiking along Gladstone Rd, heading north toward Richmond near the Goldpine shops.
Police describe Ms Stokes as European, and don't know what she was wearing at the time she went missing.
