A woman who was found on a roadside in Dome Valley, north of Warkworth, yesterday has been identified.

Police said members of the public provided vital information which led to her identification, and her family are now at her bedside in Auckland Hospital.

She remains in a critical condition with serious head injuries.

The tattoo on the back of her lower left leg helped to identify her.

Police would not comment on reports she was bound and gagged when found yesterday morning.

They are still investigating the incident and are asking anyone who may have seen anything in the area between Sunday evening and Monday morning to contact Detective Senior Sergeant Kim Libby at Orewa Police Station on 09 426 4555, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
