Internet mogul Kim Dotcom has flown from his Helensville mansion to meet Sir Paul Holmes in Hawke’s Bay today.

The Mega.co.nz founder and copyright pirate-accused’s journey to meet the broadcasting legend was not without problem though.

His helicopter had to make an emergency landing on a forestry road after suffering a rotor speed warning and fuel gauge problems.

Dotcom tweeted about the issue from an unknown, remote location.

“No kidding. Emergency landing in the middle of nowhere,” he said. “Fuel dropped to zero with rotor speed warning.”

A number of posts followed, including that the pilot has located some “loose wires” which he fixed before taking the chopper for a test spin.

Despite having only one bar of battery, Dotcom kept himself occupied by tweeting out Instagram images of his isolation.

Before the incident, Dotcom said he was on his way to lunch with a real “Knight”, who turned out to be Sir Paul, who is terminally ill with prostate cancer.
