A crash in north Otago has left one dead.
The incident happened around 11.30am on the corner of Eden St and Thames St in Oamaru. A male driver mounted the kerb and hit two pedestrians, killing one of them.
Four patients were taken to Oamaru Hospital, one with serious injuries and three with moderate injuries, a spokesperson said.
State Highway 1 has been reduced to one lane for both north and south-bound traffic.
Emergency services are still at the scene.
