A 4.5 magnitude earthquake has rocked Queenstown Lakes District this afternoon.
GeoNet recorded the quake as 5km deep and located northeast of Milford Sound.
Light shaking could be felt in Wanaka but a Queenstown local says he didn't feel a thing.
The earthquake occurred just after 4pm.
St John has had no reports of injuries and no calls to its control centre.
