Earthquake hits Seddon

A 4.8-magnitude quake has hit the Seddon area, which GeoNet classified as strong but left residents unshaken.

No damage has been reported yet. It was centred 10km south of the Marlborough settlement and 22km deep.

It hit just after 12:45pm, and more than 250 people reported feeling it on GeoNet's website, mostly in the lower North Island and top of the South Island.

One Seddon resident said they felt a minor shake, but there was no damage.
