Grieving friends and family have remembered Bradley and Ellen Livingstone for their "cheeky grins" and "beautiful singing".
Bradley, 9, and Ellen, 6, were shot to death by their estranged father in their Dunedin home on Wednesday night.
Edward Livingstone, 51, is thought to have pulled the trigger before turning the gun on himself. The children are survived by their mother, Kathrine Webb.
Funeral plans for Bradley and Ellen were announced in the Otago Daily Times this morning, along with a short tribute from their grieving family.
The pair will be farewelled at their local school, St Leonards, on Saturday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, attendees are asked to make a donation to Women's Refuge.
"Please share in the celebration of their lives by displaying colour in whichever way you choose," the notice reads.
Staff from St Leonards School also published a tribute, describing the pair's "cheeky grins" and "constant singing".
"Bradley, you were the protector. You were always looking out for Ellen and were an amazing big brother. You have a gentle, caring soul and we will miss you dearly.
"Ellen, your infectious grin and beautiful singing would fill the room and make us smile. Your fashion sense and hairstyles were like no other and you will never be forgotten."
The school has set up a bank account for donations, the sum of which will be given to Katharine Webb. The account number is 06 0909 0401308 00.
Police have completed their scene examination of the children's Kiwi St home and have returned the house to the family. A homicide investigation is ongoing.
