Fears after mercury spill in Auckland

Emergency services today attending a mercury spill at the Beachlands Medical Centre in east Auckland.

One person was exposed to the mercury, but did not suffer any injuries, the fire service said.

Around 100 and 200 grams of mercury was split, and came from a blood pressure testing kit.

Mercury can cause a range of health problems if inhaled or if it comes into contact with the skin.
