The trial of four people accused of murdering Featherston man Glen Jones will begin in the Wellington High Court today.
The 40-year-old supermarket worker was bashed to death in his home in January last year.
There are five defendants in total – three males and two females. Tariana Jones, Hayden Ranson, Kristofer Jones and Matthew McKinney are facing charges of aggravated robbery and murder, and the fifth - Toni Miller – just aggravated robbery.
All four facing murder have pleaded not guilty.
According to the prosecution, the group entered Mr Jones' home with the intent to commit a crime. They were armed with a wooden bat and an axe handle. Mr Jones was found with serious head injuries.
At his funeral, Mr Jones was described as being a "part of the fabric" of Featherston.
The trial will last around four weeks, with the prosecution calling about 50 witnesses.
