Huge crowds have turned out in Feilding to welcome Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall as the royal couple’s New Zealand tour continues.

The pair was serenaded by children near the town’s landmark clock tower before seeing demonstrations of Feilding’s agricultural history.

They then visited a farmers' market set up especially to commemorate the Queen’s diamond jubilee.

Young winners of Manawatu's 'Right Royal Rural Mailbox' competition will get to meet Charles and Camilla, as will volunteers from the Feilding community and war veterans.

The royal couple will go their separate ways later in the afternoon. Prince Charles will learn about initiatives to support local bird life before having tea with a group of farmers.

The duchess will meet students and staff and Massey University’s wildlife and equine research centres.

The couple returns to Wellington for an official function at Government House this evening, before flying to Christchurch tomorrow.
