Police are searching for a man lost somewhere along the Manawatu River on Thursday night.
A woman was rescued after emergency services were notified just after 6pm that she and a man needed help getting to the embankment.
She has since received medical treatment from ambulance staff, but emergency services are desperately searching for the man.
Surf lifesavers have been called in to assist police in looking for the man, and a helicopter is being used to conduct an aerial search of the river and its banks.
