Fire Service busy with fireworks on sale

Fire Service busy with fireworks on sale

Fireworks are back on sale, but there's only a short four-day window to buy them in the run-up to Guy Fawkes.

Unlikely places have been selling them, including roadside stalls, video stores and butcheries.

A family pack can even come delivered with pizza.

"I think fireworks are a good family tradition and we want to provide something fun and enjoyable for customers, and the fact we can deliver at home with food gives a whole night's entertainment," says Hell Pizza general manager Ben Cumming.

But the Fire Service is urging people to be vigilant.

It has already been busy, attending two fires on Christchurch's Port Hills caused by fireworks.
