Police have now cleared the property at Harrison Cres, Lower Hutt where Armed Offenders were called after reports of a man with a firearm.
It has been established nobody is at the address, but a white Chevrolet thought to be connected to the incident has been found.
Cordons around the area will be reduced while police continue investigations.
If anybody surrounding the incident notices suspicious activity, they are asked to call 111 immediately.
