The Wellington aquarium which was attacked a week ago has been overwhelmed with support from the public.
Most of the fish at the Island Bay Marine Centre died when the water system was poisoned.
Hundreds of people have donated money, fish, crabs and even a shark after around 100 fish were poisoned in a chlorine attack last weekend.
"We had a huge amount of support from the community, people bringing us in creatures to replenish our stocks," says Julian Hodge.
Slowly, the tanks have been filling up with sea cucumbers, hermit crabs and sea anemones.
People have also donated more than $6000 towards a reward fund for any information that helps the police track down the people who attacked the aquarium.
All the while, Mr Hodge has been out searching for other rare creatures, and today, he hit the jackpot.
"A few more snake stars, aren't they just awesome animals?"
Back at the aquarium, one local even brought in a shark.
"We love having the sharks here," says Mr Hodge. "We only keep them for a short while, but one of the local fisherman brought that in for us yesterday."
So thanks to the public, the Island Bay Marine Centre is now almost full again.
