An armed man has robbed a bank in Mt Roskill, but if he was trying to be stealthy, he did not do well.

While he did get away with some money, he did it wearing a hi-viz fluoro jacket.

The fluoro-clad man entered the Richardson Road Auckland Kiwibank in Mt Roskill with a shot gun at 1:23pm on Thursday.

He approached the counter and pointed the shotgun at the bank manager and staff before demanding cash.

The man ran away with the money and jumped into a stolen silver Mazda, registration number ERT981, which was being driven by another man.

The pair drove up Richardson Road towards Mt Roskill.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery. They are particularly interested in talking to two women and a man who were inside the bank at the time.

The offender is described as being light skinned, of slim build, aged in his 40s, and about 176cm tall.

He was wearing an orange fluorescent jacket, a black hoodie, dark pants, white gloves and a dark baseball cap with white writing on it.

Anyone with information should contact the Auckland City Crime Squad on 09 302 6557 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
