A special Christchurch quake anniversary service was held in Latimer Square this morning to remember those who died.
The service focused on families who lost loved ones as well as first responders to the disaster.
Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker spoke at the service and said he hoped the anniversary brought some closure to the event.
“I hope the pain can be put into context as we all move forward together.”
Prime Minister John Key also offered solace to the families.
“We cannot numb the pain of those who lost loved ones, anymore than we can bring back those who died.”
Watch the full memorial service from this morning.
