The Government is flying the New Zealand flag in India with the help of a former Black Cap.

Primary Industries Minister Nathan Guy is leaving today to lead a six-day trade mission to India and Sri Lanka.

He is taking representatives from 15 organisations including Fonterra, Pipfruit New Zealand and Alliance Meat Company.

"We're taking a vast array of other New Zealand companies involved in tourism, IT and hospitality," he says.

"There's an opportunity to attract more tourists down here, but going the other direction there's an opportunity for us to sell more of our products."

Mr Guy will also be accompanied by former New Zealand cricket captain Stephen Fleming, who now coaches the Chennai Super Kings.
