Auckland Harbour Bridge will glow green for St Patrick's Day tonight, as part of an ongoing interactive music light show that began on the bridge last week.

The Play the Bridge light show features 1000 dancing LEDs on the city-facing side of the bridge, synchronised with music selected by followers online. Users can watch their song requests play out in person or via live-stream on mobile or online.

While tonight's St Patrick's Day lights won't dance to music, the interactive display will begin again this Thursday, running every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7:30pm until 11:30pm, ending April 25.

The event was put together by 2degrees, Samsung, New Zealand Transport Agency and ATEED to mark Auckland's 175th anniversary.

"2degrees Play the Bridge is all about using technology to connect people and bring a fun event to our community," says 2degrees head of marketing communications Trent Harnett.

People can visit the Play the Bridge website to select their favourite songs. The most popular will be selected as part of the performance.
