There is a growing chance that foods derived from hemp could be made legal in New Zealand.
Food Standards Australia and New Zealand is considering changing the law after recent research revealed the low THC foods are safe to eat, won't get people high, and are healthy as they are full of nutrients and omega 3 fatty acids.
The agency won't consider the sale of whole or fertile hemp seeds.
Submissions on the proposal are being accepted until February 1.
