Prince Charles has spoken of his regret at not having the chance to go zorbing or bungee jumping during his time in New Zealand.
The prince and his wife Camilla have spent the day exploring Auckland, ending with a dinner at the Sky City convention centre.
While he struggled with the Maori national anthem, when Prince Charles spoke at the dinner he commanded the audience with ease.
“Can you believe it, I suddenly realised this is my eighth visit here and that I first came 42 years ago,” he said.
“I even seem to recall a jolly dance in a wool shed in some remote part of the country. And I suspect many in New Zealand now doubt that I was once quite young”.
Speaking at the diamond jubilee trust dinner, the prince commended New Zealand on its ingenuity nut said there are two Kiwi activities he'll be missing out on.
“Sadly, on this occasion, bungee jumping and zorbing didn’t quite make the program,” he said, “but there are other thrills and spills as we travel this country”.
Tonight's dinner capped off a series of engagements for the royal couple
Earlier today they visited Auckland’s Millenium Institute, where the prince truly experienced the blood, sweat and tears involved in creating our world class athletes.
And the duchess met Dame Lynley Dodd, the writer of one of her favourite reads, ‘Hairy Maclary’.
Since arriving on Saturday night, the royal couple's feet have barely touched the ground. Tonight's dinner was their 10th engagement of the day.
Prince Charles and Camilla will have the day off tomorrow, then on Wednesday they're heading to Wellington to celebrate Prince Charles' 64th birthday.
