Cricketer Jesse Ryder is out of intensive care, following three days spent in an induced coma in Christchurch Hospital.

Ryder was attacked outside a Merivale bar on Wednesday night, with two men arrested over the assault.

He told manager Aaron Klee yesterday he does not remember the attack – though he does remember getting out on the first ball of his Wellington representative cricket match earlier the same day.

Those closest to the critically injured cricketer say the overwhelming amount of support that's pouring in will help him through his recovery.

The 28-year-old remains in Christchurch Hospital after suffering head injuries and a collapsed lung after two attacks in quick succession.

Mr Klee says Ryder's family and he have been trying to catalogue hundreds of messages from people across the country and around the world.
