A man is to appear in the Kaikohe District Court this afternoon, following a fatal crash in Northland on Saturday night.
The 66-year-old American is charged with two counts of careless use of a motor vehicle causing death and one count of careless use of a motor vehicle causing injury.
The accused was driving a car that collided with a second vehicle at the intersection of State Highway 10 Puketona Rd in Oromahoe, killing two people.
Kylee Anne Rakich, 29, and Virginia Keogh, 44, died at the scene.
The other two occupants of the second car -- the 21-year-old driver and an eight-year-old child -- were hospitalised with injuries.
Victim Support has been provided to the families of the victims.
