Police have named the man whose body was found washed up on Mount Maunganui Beach yesterday.
Pawan Kumar Khadka, 22, was discovered by a member of the public early yesterday morning and his body was taken away by police.
The Nepalese man has been in New Zealand for around 18 months and had been living in Tauranga.
The beach was cordoned off briefly from around 6:30am but then reopened by 8:30am.
Mr Khadka's death has been referred to the coroner.
