A BB rifle has been seized after police were called to Auckland's Newmarket train station on Monday evening.
Train staff alerted police at around 8:27pm.
After looking at CCTV, a police unit was sent to the train station and found a man carrying a BB rifle in a white blanket.
Police say there was "nothing untoward" and are satisfied there was no risk to the public.
The rifle has been seized and the man is being spoken to. No one has been taken into custody over the incident, but police say train staff did the right thing in calling police.
Trains are running as usual.
