A 26-year old Hamilton man has been jailed for a minimum of 13 years for the murder of an elderly man in a public toilet.

Turei Rawiri Kingi was high on cannabis and alcohol when he bashed 71-year-old Jacques Donker with a bottle of whiskey so he could steal his car keys.
Kingi has two strikes against him under the three strikes law to combat violent crime and could have been jailed for life without parole for the August offence.
However, Justice Edwin Wylie took into several account factors including Kingi's age, mental health and guilty plea and decided that in this case it would be 'manifestly unjust'.
Kingi pleaded guilty to the killing in September.
