A judge has released his reserved decision on a hearing as part of Eminem's civil case against the National Party.

The US rapper's publisher, Eight Mile Style, launched a High Court bid claiming compensation after National used the artist's song, 'Lose Yourself' in the party's 2014 election campaign ad.

Labrador, a California-based company, opposed the legal challenge and says it has the contract which allows National to use the music.

But in a decision released this afternoon, Justice Robert Dobson set aside Labrador's claims.

No hearing date has been set.
