Navy Commander found guilty

A jury has found a Navy Commander guilty of indecent assault today.

The Commander, who was granted name suppression, grabbed a female officer's behind at least four times at a naval function in 2012.

The officer said each time she turned around she saw him smirking. Although she didn't actually see the Commander grab her, it was clear it was him, she says.

The defence argued no one else at the function saw the offending and there were a number of other people who could have been responsible.

A previous court martial in March failed to reach a verdict.

The officer who accused the Commander of the assault made some mistakes when giving evidence. The judge asked the jury to consider whether or not this was relevant.
