Police are warning drivers to make sure they have a bathroom break before setting out (file)
A driver caught going 176km/h down a Waikato highway has told police he was desperate to get to a toilet.
Police are warning drivers to make sure they have a bathroom break before setting out after a man pulled over for going nearly 80km/h per hour over the speed limit on the Waikato Expressway told officers he was "busting".
"The worst part ... he got stuck behind a truck in a temporary 80[km] zone anyway - pointless, not to mention downright dangerous," police said.
"It is now the hīkoi express for this driver."
