Chorus is taking out urgent maintenance on the Kaikoura area's fibre optic cabling after last Monday's earthquake.
Initially Kaikoura Civil Defence thought the maintenance would affect services such as landlines, internet and EFTPOS services. Chorus has since confirmed no services will be affected.
All communications and cabling services, including emergency calls and mobile coverage, will still operate normally.
