Keeping the New Zealand economy safe from internet attackers is the focus of today's inaugural Cyber Security Summit.
The Government has initiated a cyber security strategy, calling for the public and private sector to come together to keep the economy cyber secure.
Communications Minister Amy Adams says the risk posed by cyber-crime is often understated.
"The reality of a significant cyber intrusion to a business is not only operations but their reputation. I think it's something that hasn't quite hit home for New Zealand businesses."
She says there's a plan for the public and private sector to work together to keep our economy safe.
