The High Court has ruled that the eviction of Occupy Auckland protests went too far.
A group of activists occupied Aotea Square in Auckland from October 2011 to January 2012, when they were evicted by police.
The Occupy Auckland movement followed similar efforts in the United States, protesting about how democracy is corrupted by the one percent of people who have all the money.
On January 26 police and Auckland council evicted the campers and their tents from the site.
A judge originally ruled that the eviction was legal, but the Occupy Auckland protestors appealed the ruling in the High Court, Newstalk ZB reports.
Today a ruling by Justice Ellis was released, saying the earlier court order, which allowed the eviction, went too far.
