For those travelling shirtless on the back of a motorbike today, the warm weather was certainly in their favour.

Just off Auckland's Karangahape Rd, participants of the Boobs on Bikes parade lined the street and the public loomed for their chance of a sneaky photo.

Kick-off was at 12:30pm, but people were already starting to meet an hour before – including the expected police presence.

The event, which typically prefaces Steve Crow's Erotica Lifestyles Expo, has become an iconic yearly event with a potential for thousands of viewers as the procession moves its way down Queen Street.

Bystanders with mixed opinions on the event stood to the side of the street, including university student Liam Smith who began his day with no intention to see the parade.

"I didn't even know that it was on, I just saw a bunch of people coming down and taking photos so thought I'd come and look."

Tiana Smith, who is also a university student, wasn't looking to find the event either but didn't agree with what she saw.

"It's a bit gross, not a fan. I think you should keep your boobs to yourself.

"I think it's wrong, if they are promoting pornography when he Mr Crow is trying to promote equality – there is a mixed message there."
